I live in Queensbury New York which is adjacent to Glens
Falls, a city that is called the "Gateway to the Adirondacks". The Adirondack Park contains true wilderness,
most people have no idea that a park this size exists in the Northeast ,much less that it is located in New York
State.
I have been growing and harvesting plants for over 30 years.
I started studying Medical Herbalism when I moved to my home in the Adirondacks. I have studied under many different
Herbalists and have taken workshops from many more. I apprenticed under Rosemary Gladstar of Sage Mountain in S.
Barre , Vermont and Gail Ulrich of Blazing Star School in Shelburne Falls, Mass. I also attended
Adirondack Community College Nursing Program where I studied Anatomy & Physiology and Nutrition. I am a
member of the Northeast Herbal Association. I worked on the NEHA newsletter committee for several years and I was on
the the NEHA Council for many years. I am also a member of the American Herbalist Guild.
I have been teaching for over 10 years and my favorite
class is my Apprenticeship Program. It has been very rewarding to introduce people to the plant world. I teach
people through the 3 seasons; Spring, Summer and Fall. I get to watch their journey as they learn about
nature and themselves. I teach many types of classes: Women and Menopause, Herbal Skin Care, Herbs and Nutrition are
among my more popular classes. I usually teach classes at the Adirondack Community College Continuing Education Program
as well as the Saratoga Springs Continuing Ed. Program. Please see my page on classes for this year.
I have been an Herbal Consultant since 2000. I have
worked in many offices, my first being in Glens Falls when I had the opportunity to work with a local physician. I now
have an office in my home. Please see my page on Herbal Consultations.
I have a line of herbal formulas that I
sell at local stores. These are my favorite recipes or formulas which I have developed over the years of practicing
my craft of herbalism.
I maintain a public herb garden which is connected to a
large botanical garden at Hovey Pond Park which is located on Lafayette Street ,Queensbury. I invite all to visit to
see the herbal plants and , of course, all the other beautiful plants. We are working on a Native Plant garden
this year. In May of this year, we have a lecture series planned on the different gardens. I
will be talking about the herb garden, Greg Greene, the periennal garden and Drew Monthie will talk about the Native
Plant Garden.
